To safely perform maintenance tasks to ensure long-term plant availability and reliability thereby contributing to the overall equipment effectiveness.
Job description
• Install, test, connect, commission, maintain & modify electrical equipment, wiring and control systems as
required.
• Perform electrical maintenance or remedial work according to JDE notifications, work orders and PM
schedules, including during maintenance shuts.
• Complete notifications and work orders on the JDE system.
• Fault finding on electrical systems during breakdown and effect the required repairs to keep downtime to
a minimum.
• Complete daily and weekly inspections on electrical systems and their components according to a
detailed checklist.
• Identify repairs required and recommend preventative maintenance or improvements to the Engineer.
• Perform tests on AC and DC motors to determine the condition of the motor windings, insulation and
core lamination.
Minimum requirements
• Matric/Grade 12 with a pass in Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Completed N4 Electrical Engineering qualification
• Recognized Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) as an Electrician.
• 4 years post-apprenticeship experience with a focus on electrical fault finding and maintenance in a heavy
industrial environment.
• 5 years’ relevant experience in a heavy process industry, preferably in paper manufacturing or similar
industry.
• Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) systems
• Good computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook).
