To lead and control all mechanical workshop activities, including equipment repairs, fabrication, machining, welding and facilities maintenance, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safe execution, cost control and supporting plant overall equipment efficiency improvements.
Job description

Coordinate the planning and tracking of labour, equipment, spares, materials, services, cost and recording
of work history.
Ensure that workshop team objectives are constantly being met by training, assigning, scheduling and
coaching  employees;
Perform RCA’s in line with agreed triggers to ascertain failures.
Coordinate the repairs and maintenance of material handling equipment (i.e., Forklifts, bale clamps, reel
clamps, etc).
Coordinate the maintenance of all plant facilities including buildings, perimeter fencing, fire sprinkler
systems and steel structures.
Source quotes for repairs and replacements of equipment in area of responsibility.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Matric/Grade 12.
Qualified artisan – Fitter/ Fitter and Turner advantageous
Minimum 10 years post-trade experience in heavy industry.
Minimum 3 years workshop experience.
Strong understanding of rotating equipment, machining principles, tolerances and fits.
Computer skills (Ms Office) and ERP (JDE) systems knowledge advantageous.
Good communication skills, written and verbal.
People Management and Problem-solving skills required.
Understanding of SHERQ Regulations.
