Introduction
To support the execution of engineering, maintenance and strategic projects in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner by assisting the Engineering Manager with planning, coordination, supervision, and implementation of allocated projects
Job description
• Support the execution of maintenance and capital projects allocated by the Engineering Manager.
• Assist in defining projects scope, project goals and deliverables.
• Involvement in project tenders and adjudication.
• Supervision of contractors, artisans, and technicians during project execution.
• Oversee day-to-day site activities, equipment, materials, and contractor performance.
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning activities.
• Track progress, monitor budgets, ensure quality/safety standards, manage risks, and implement process improvements.
• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and mill procedures.
• Monitor project progress and report deviations, risks, or delays.
• Prepare projects status reports, communicate with stakeholders, resolve issues, and present project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental requirements during project execution.
• Provide technical support during plant shutdowns and planned maintenance activities.
• Implement and manage changes when necessary to meet project deliverables.
Minimum requirements
• Minimum Grade 12.
• N3 Technical qualification.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in an engineering, maintenance, or projects environment within heavy industry or manufacturing.
• Exposure to project execution and contractor management.
• Experience in pulp and paper industry advantageous.
• Good understanding of maintenance best practices.
• Computer literacy, including MS Office.
• Exposure to ERP or maintenance systems (JDE advantageous).
